House on Hoover

description

House on Hoover is a complete exterior improvement project to upgrade a clients home that has been in their family for decades. The home recently took on its third generation of family occupancy and needed significant exterior updates and modernization to meet the needs of the incoming family including two young kids.

To give the home a more contemporary look a muted color palette of neutral gray and white was chosen.  Modern amenities such as a new inground pool and jacuzzi, outdoor dining and entertaining spaces, expansive pool-side shade pergola, "soccer" green space, expanded garage, and various inviting landscape features were added.

The house, originally built in the early 1900s, resides in one of Phoenix's most historic neighborhoods and is under the protection of a Phoenix historic district overlay. To meet the requirements of the historic district required close coordination and consideration with the owner about potential Exterior design elements and their suitability with the districts requirements. The final design balances these needs by minimizing inauthentic design features as visible from public ways. New construction that is visible is detailed to blend into the historic context.
